Before film projection was a viable technology, the Kinetoscope became a popular sensation, introducing the spectacle of motion pictures to audiences one viewer at a time. This stereo-kinetoscope is an early prototype of what will become a self-contained device that highlights stereoscopic audiovisual work and emphasizes the spectacle of an early 20th-century kinetoscope parlour and the playfulness of a 1980s arcade.
